This Deputy was my nephew's best friend and like my sister's second son. She had been here all week on vacation and this shooting happened the morning she got home. She has asked that we all pray for the family.
Retired Chiefs Enjoy Working as Court Constables
All chiefs seem to go to the Bowling Green Courthouse. Just ask former Police Chiefs Denny Dauer of Perrysburg Township, Dennis Foy of Rossford, or Danny LaDuke of Lake Township. These three men have been friends since the 1970's, retiring several years ago after serving their respective departments for more than 30 years each.
Each thought they would kick back, relax and enjoy their leisure time, and at first they did. But after a short time at home all three ended up applying and being accepted as court constables at the Wood County Courthouse. Between these men they have over 100 years of law enforcement experience.
For the former chiefs, life as a court constable offers them an opportunity to see another side of the legal system. Most of their duties are standard and include screening visitors, patrolling the complex, and securing the building in the morning and again at night.
When Court is in session, one of the constables is present in the Courtroom.

New Program to Keep Children Occupied in Court
The Court Security Department at the Wood County Courthouse has started a new program that is liked by the judges and helps keep children occupied while in the Court building. Court Security Officers have secured a grant from a local business to have coloring books, crayons, and stuffed animals near the courtrooms so that children can be occupied and quiet during court hearings. If you are interested in more information or how to setup a similar program, contact Tom Chidester, Chief Court Constable, at 419-354-9302.
